Numerical control system based on a programmable logic device

The article presents a numerical control system of multi-axis machine built using programmable logic device.The consists PC, motor controller (based on FPGA), power stages and motors. complete code was written in the VHDL language implementing Xilinx Spartan 3 board. PC program created LabVIEW.The logical functional tests have been carried out. application device enables its quick configuration according to requirements set by user.The main advantage FPGA is option expand following modules, such as incremental encoder support module, PWM, FOC etc. In these applications, becomes visible, which due specifics, for parallel processing or generating signals.
